All Made To Measure
We have seen great demand for our side hung wooden garage / barn doors using traditional methods of joinery. The doors are made from slow-grown hand-picked Scandinavian redwood (softwood), hardwood is also available upon request (please contact us for a quote). All doors are fully framed, ledged and braced, morticed and tenoned joints for that extra durable strength. Whether its just the doors you require, or the full package with framework kit and ironmongery? its not a problem. The standard framework hanging kits are usually made of 70mm x 70mm section. All framework kits are supplied with machined finger joints, ready to simply push together, fix into place, and bolt to the existing masonry wall or timber building etc . Wall fixing bolts for the frame can also be supplied 'if required'. We can also supply the relevant furniture/ironmongery or grab a deal for our furniture kits which consist of 2 pairs of heavy-duty adjustable hook & band hinges, 1 drop bolt, 1 ring latch, 2 cabin hooks and a sliding brenton padbolt for security - these are all available in either Galvanised or Epoxy Black finish. You can also add additional furniture i.e. rimlocks, pull handles, extra bolts etc from our ironmongery section. Please note: all doors are supplied with a top hat twice-weathered capping to allow water run-off (accept 70mm thick doors, - the upgraded option) which are supplied with a heavy chamfer to the top - so please take extra measures when treating/preserving the end grains to help provide a longer life-span. The timber (handpicked Joinery Grade softwood/hardwood by our highly experienced craftsmen) is supplied in a smooth/untreated fashion, ready for you to stain/paint to your desired colour. If you intend to use a stain, then we highly recommend applying Sikkens HLS (for the base-coat), followed by Sikkens Filter 7 for the additional top coats, using a good quality brush and following the grains of the timber gently. This proven formula does not only help protect against water and fungae, but also against the UV rays, which is equally important for external timber. (Do not spray) and allow good drying times between each coat for best results. From previous research and experience, we have found www.decoratingwarehouse.co.uk to be the most competitive as regards to price for Sikkens products, however we always recommend shopping around just in-case you manage to find cheaper elsewhere ?? you maybe lucky! If you intend to finish with a coloured paint, we recommend to apply a spirit based stain prior (making sure the timber preserved) to applying the paint covering.
