These elegant looking doors are fully surround framed ledged & braced using traditional mortice & tenon joints and boat building glue for extra strength and durability.
Hardwood-dowelled top joints (the 'draw and bore' method) providing one of the best joint fixings along with providing that extra elegance of detail in craftsmanship.
The overall thickness of these doors are 45mm once smoothed down, (70mm thick also available upon request). Equal amount of window lites in each door across the top section. The cladding itself is fixed using ring shanked nails (under-pressure) and is tucked up underneath and inside a rebated channel to help avoid down grain water intrusion. Top-hat capping cover machined to suit along with chamfered edges all-round for extra character.
Supplied untreated ready to be stained or painted to your desired colour. Redwood joinery grade timber (hardwood options also available upon request).
Please note, glass and beading is not supplied, so you will need to purchase this locally from your local glazier company.
Supplied with a centre meeting cover strip allowing you the choice as to which is the master opener upon installation. Rebating of the doors can also be machined ready for an additional cost.
Most of our customers generally purchase the furniture kit which is supplied in either a galvanised or epoxy black finish, along with the rimlocks and pull handles to suit. The timber (handpicked joinery grade softwood by our highly experienced craftsmen) is supplied in a smooth/untreated fashion, ready for you to stain/paint to your desired colour.
If you intend to use a stain, then we highly recommend applying Sikkens HLS (for the base-coat), followed by Sikkens Filter 7 for the additional top coats, using a good quality brush and following the grains of the timber gently. This proven formula does not only help protect against water and fungi, but also against the UV rays, which is equally important for external timber. Do not spray, and allow good drying times between each coat for best result.
We can also offer single pedestrian doors in the same style to compliment the pair.
If you intend to finish with a coloured paint, we recommend to apply a spirit based stain prior (making sure the timber preserved) to applying the paint covering.
For prices please email us your existing opening sizes giving us the Height first then the Width. We will advise what clearance(s) we have allowed for and explain everything as clear as we can to help you along your way. Please advise if you require a framework kit or if your current frame is adequate for the job.
Please note: Some pictures may show either different species of timber or difference colour(s) for illustrational purposes only.
